Promoting the theme "A Happy Mouth is…A Happy Mind’’, this year’s event is asking everyone around the world to raise awareness about the importance of good oral health.

World Oral health Day, an oral health awareness raising event promoted by the FDI World Dental Federation, of which the ADA is an active member, will take place on 20 March this year.

Promoting the theme "A Happy Mouth is…A Happy Mind’’, this year’s event is asking everyone around the world to raise awareness about the importance of good oral health.

The theme is the continuation of the new three-year campaign which commenced in 2024, and which saw the introduction of a new mascot for the event, Toothie the Beaver, who is styled as a "global icon for oral health and spark worldwide engagement and participation” and who, in his first year, talked about how closely oral health and general wellbeing are closely linked.

This year’s World Oral Health Day advances the theme further by shifting the focus to the the connection between oral health and mental well-being.

Helping Toothie spread the message this year are Miyu, Marcos, Shumba and Sara who will, in the words of FDI, join the face of World Oral Health Day "on an exciting journey to highlight the important role oral health plays in our mental well-being.”

To stoke excitement for this year’s event, a movie sequel to last year’s Toothie film is going to be released, its aim being to "to engage and mobilize [sic] as many people as possible."
