ADA Deputy CEO and General Manager - Policy, Advocacy and Communications, Eithne Irving, has been interviewed on ABC radio to discuss the importance of a pilot program for a proposed Senior Dental Benefit Schedule program.
In a landmark initiative to completely overhaul the oral health of millions of older Australians, seniors from Eastern Sydney will take part in a pilot program starting this week aimed at improving their oral health through a unique system of care.
If successful, the Senior Dental Benefit Schedule demonstration program would provide a blueprint for a national rollout by the Federal Government.
It’s the result of urgent calls from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and the 2023 Senate Inquiry into Access to Dental Services in Australia, which highlighted alarming trends in preventable dental hospitalisations among Australians aged 65 and over and endemic issues around oral health for aged care residents.
ADA Deputy CEO and General Manager - Policy, Advocacy and Communications, Eithne Irving, appeared on ABC radio to discuss the importance of the demonstration program.
