Course Information
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify situations where orthodontic extractions, palatal expansion, maxillary advancement, or mandibular advancement may be considered in paediatric OSA management and recognize the current limitations in evidence guiding these decisions.
- Screen orthodontic patients for clinical signs and risk factors of paediatric OSA and determine when referral to a sleep medicine or medical specialist is warranted.
- Anticipate and counsel families that craniofacial or orthodontic interventions for paediatric OSA may lead to short-term variable outcomes, including improvement, no change, or worsening of symptoms, and integrate this into shared decision-making.
