Practical strategies for managing periodontal disease in general practice - Port Lincoln

Course Information

Periodontal care is a lifelong journey for susceptible patients that requires the support of the entire dental clinic. In this pragmatic and clinically orientated seminar Andre will discuss current thinking in the causation, diagnosis and management of periodontal disease for the whole dental team; dentists, hygienists, nurses, and reception staff. Attendees will leave with contemporary clinical protocols and communication tools. You will learn how to confidently identify at-risk patients, deliver and assess initial therapy, and build the long-term trust necessary to keep patients returning for essential Supportive Periodontal Care (SPC). A/Prof Bendyk will also give some very practical advice on management of peri-implantitis and how it may be avoided to begin with.
This is a practical, team-focused evening designed to be immediately applicable in your day-to-day practice.

Andre completed his specialist training in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the University of Adelaide in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Pierre Fauchard Academy and International College of Dentistry. He is frequently invited to give lectures and training courses to dentists and study groups around Australia. He is a teacher and examiner of Periodontal Post-Graduate Students, an ANZAP Federal Councillor and Past President and Federal Treasurer of the Australian Society of Periodontology. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide. His clinical and scientific interests are in the areas of dental implantology, hard and soft tissue grafting and advanced periodontitis. Andre owns a group specialist periodontal practice in the Adelaide CBD.  Outside of the practice he enjoys surfing, tennis and spending time with his young family.
